The only outstanding bill is the cost of the Tuesday night's party (probably about £10).
Update on subscriptions--- 99 members paid
21 members unpaid of which three are unlikely to rejoin.

6 House report (Convent only)
Margaret reported that everything was fine at The Convent. Kate (the cleaner) had been unable to get in the week before last, but Margaret had been able to get the problem solved.
She had requested more toilet rolls & paper towels that Ken had delivered.
Margaret mentioned that "Bookers "were reluctant to issue another card so Sham was holding the card for the moment.
She had phoned Berti about the lamppost and Neil asked her to find out if Berti wanted the carpet lifted.
Ken reported that the rent had been paid up until the 23rd September.

7 Tournaments
It was agreed that the Wednesday night handicaps would be reset as of 1st September.
The Carlisle Match had not yet been played. Neil waiting to receive word from Carlisle.
Ian Burn is to be the non-playing director for the Diamond Swiss event.
The Appleton Handicaps are nearly complete.
Some discussion took place about the type of movement to be used for the match pointed Appleton and how many positions to be awarded prizes. This has yet to be finalised.

8 Press
Denise to approach The Courier with a view to publishing the results there as well as The Standard.

9 Newsletter
It was agreed to continue using Print.Copy Centre for printing the Newsletter as they were very reasonable. Eva asked if anybody had any ideas for the newsletter and it was suggested that perhaps photographs could be printed in it.

10 Refreshments
This seems to be running satisfactorily.

11 Social
After some discussion it was agreed to go ahead with the members night on the 30h September. This Friday night will not now be an Appleton night but a bounce night to which all members would be invited. Sandwiches and wine are to be available.

It was also agreed to have an open afternoon on Saturday 15th October 2—5pm. Bridge to start about 2-15pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits to be available. Bridge and refreshments to be free.
Secretary to write to as many clubs as possible to invite members to come along.

12 Master Points
No problems reported.

13 S.B.U.
M. Greensill asked if the S.B.U. could use the new premises on April 9th for the Swiss Teams event. This was granted.
She told us that the S.B.U. was willing to buy 26 sets of bidding boxes. It was suggested that in some cases it was just new inserts that was needed. Margaret to order.

14 Signs
Neil showed the Committee a possible design for the Loreburn Bridge Club sign to go on the outside wall of the new premises. After various suggestions it was decided to have a brass plate on wood using black letters and a Perspex type sign on the end of the building. No planning permission would be necessary.

15 Classes
It was confirmed that the classes would start on Thursday 6th October and that Ken would put an advert in the paper the week prior to the start.
There appears to be a fair bit of interest with a suggestion that perhaps two levels of classes could be run e.g. beginners and improvers. This will be confirmed later.

16 Premises update
Neil gave some costings:
Georges budget £87,000+vat 103,000
Milton (heating/air conditioning 12,500

Neil then informed the Committee as to the expected time table of the various tradesmen. It would seem likely that the items in storage and the furniture etc. at The Convent could be taken back to Howgate Street on Thursday 29th September in time for the members night on Friday 30th September.
Margaret Greensill also reported on the work that she and some club members have been doing whilst all this refurbishment has been going on. As so many members have been mentioned I am minuting the notes from Margaret.
The wallpaper has been stripped off the club walls by our team of Neil, Ken, Michael, Sham, Margaret (Brydson) and Sandra.
The kitchen units have been ordered and George expects to start fitting next week. He phoned me today to let me know that the worktop is not available so I will go tomorrow and choose another.
The carpets have been ordered through Abbie. He has not received the invoice yet, but Ken has money ready to pay out. Abbie is going to request that the carpets are delivered directly to the club, but it depends on the supplier.
Martin is going to fit the carpets and vinyl.
The plasterer is in this week and Neil will organise the painter to go in as soon as possible.
The table covers are well on the way. I have cut 24 cloths out and Doreen Wray has been experimenting with the sewing, Rosie and Ann Gray are also making covers. Gladys and Elaine are making cushions with the same material.
The wall kettle is ordered and we have a chiller cabinet in mind. The glass/dishwasher I am waiting for leaflets from David Gray.

17 AOCB
Eva brought up the fact that people were complaining about the cold some evening's in particular last Friday evening and she asked if she could bring in another heater. This was agreed.

18 Date of next meeting
